I' Am Blessed
Well after a crazy past week I have to say going home for Thanksgiving completely made up for it. There were a little bumps a long the way like my plane being delayed 2hours and having the stomach flew the night before I left all was good. I left Memphis last Wednesday and headed to the beautiful sunny California. When I got in I had Thanksgiving with my Mom and Step Dad. This was wonderful, because all I had to eat that day was a small diet Coke and about 10 mini pretzels. My mom makes the best candy yams so you bet I had some good eaten that night.
I woke up on Thanksgiving morning truly refreshed, because I am on central time I woke up at 7:00 am Cali time and went for a morning run. It was so nice to be at home and know all the roads and not even think about getting lost...As I ran up King Street it brought back a lot of memories of when I was in High School and I ran Cross Country. I thought about how disciplined I was back then and I tried to push myself so hard. The weather outside was amazing, so crisp and clean. The sky was so blue and the mountain tops were covered in snow. I miss that, the mountains that is. I was so blessed by all the beauty that was around me I couldn't do anything but offer up thanksgiving to the Lord, which was such a great way to start my Thanksgiving weekend off.
Thanksgiving afternoon I went over to my Aunt Yolanda’s house where my Grandma, Uncle, Aunt and lots of cousins accompanied me. It was real nice; she makes the best honey ham and mashed potatoes. There was a whole entire counter dedicated to desserts and lets just say I know what they all tasted like...lol...It went on to the evening where I caught up with my Dad and my step siblings, and the best part was being able to see my nieces, Breanna, and Allisse. They are so precious, truly beautiful little girls and I am not being bios) Then that evening my cousin Celina, her husband Miguel and I continued our traditional movie's after dinner. We met up with one of my very best friends Jaime at the theater to see Christmas with the Kranks. I was so anxious because I have not seen Jamie in over a year because she's been in Germany as a nanny. Oh have I missed her so! When I first saw her I was so taken back I hardly recognized her, she looks great! I think we hugged for like 5 minutes, it was one of those run out of the terminal at the airport moments! I will not give my opinion about the movie; it was cute but probably a renter.
Oh ....now on to the morning after Thanksgiving, oh yes I ' am one of those who got up at 4am and went shopping! My cousin was the one who mainly wanted to go; I was just a long for the ride. As long as I could to grab a peppermint mocha before we were off on the crazy adventure... I was cool. So we got up and headed to the zoo! My Aunt and I rode together and went into Target first, let’s just say we walked in saw the masses and ran out! There is nothing that is worth a tow hour wait in line! The rest of the day went well, we were done about 12pm and then I was off for another Thanksgiving dinner, that’s right another one! My friend Jaime was celebrating her's late and she invited me over. More yummy food and good conversation, I met Jaime’s new boyfriend and all her new friends which were nice. We went to the Mission in Riverside where we met up with Justin, Jeremy, and Courtney some of my most favorite people:) We looked at the little shops filled with very ornate Christmas decorations, and drank some hot coco of course.
My last day of the weekend, Jaime, Becca, Nate (Jaime’s boyfriend), and I went up to Oak Glen. , One of my most favorite places to go in the world. It's at the bottom of the mountains in the hills. There was still some snow on the ground and we took lots of pictures. We got some apple pie alamode and sat next to the fire in this very sweet cafe/store.
Ok now do you see why I feel so blessed! I feel truly thankful for the large family and great friends that I have in California and here in Memphis....What a Blessed THANKSGIVING!
