Docterine and Duty

"Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. " -Ephesians 4:15-16

Last night I truly heard Gods voice. I learned so much about who he has called us as Christians to be. What it looks like to be rooted in faith, is to foster intamicy with Christ, study His word, and to live a Godly life. I know that is not a ew concept to us as blievers , I know as believers we here this all too often. But yes we may here all these Docterines being preeched but what do we with them in our everyday lives that proves them to be truth? "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on a Rock. And the rain fell, and the floods cane, and the winds blew ans beat on that house, but it dod not fall, beacuse it had been founded on the rock."(Matthew 7:24-25) We hear the word, but it is no good if we do nothing with it, this is what fostering is all about, the very defenition is, "To promote the growth and development of; cultivate", knowing and applying it to who we are and what we are all about. As college students we know what studying is all about, we have to, or at least we should be, studying all the time. And all this earns us is an A, for some class that we will forget all about in such a short time, like a semester!

When we are students of Gods word, we are studying for the best grade of this life and the life thereafter, eternity. I ask you this question, what's it going to take to be a true "A" student of Gods word today in your life? What areas in your life our just saturated with fat, and not Gods word. What would you have to give up to make time in your schedule to be that "A" student? When we are fosters, and studyers of Gods word, God will encourage our hearts, strengethen our minds, nurish us, and feed us. "My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" Colossians 2:2-3

Do you have a mind that is fixed on eternity, I know ask myself this question everyday. I know that there are a number of things that I could chuck out the window and do without, I know that I could get up an hour earier or stay up an hour later in this life, for a time to study Gods word. I am not saying any of this to be "legalistic". I say this for I know and believe in my heart that the evidence of assurance, of a true believer , is peace and a mind fixed on Eternity.

I challange you with this, Do you have assurance? Are you rooted and Solid?

My pastor told this story once, of how this man named John Wlesley on his death bed said these truly passionate words of his faith,

" I'll praise my Maker while I've breath,And when my voice is lost in death,Praise shall employ my nobler powers; My days of praise shall ne'er be past,While life, and thought, and being last,Or immortality endures"
