The Battle Belongs to the Lord

Something that I have always struggled with in the past has come to light. I know that is not "easy" to be a true follower of Christ. It is hard as a "human" to be a Christian, with all the temptations this world has to offer, success, money, sex, alcohol, drugs, the list goes on and on. But to be a Christ follower as a "vessel" ,used by Christ is easy. Yes everyday I too wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and put on my spiritual armor, the helmet of Gods wisdom, the vest of Gods strength, and the shield of Gods protection. Praying for God to help me through the day, so that I am able to bring him the purest Glory that he deserves. And yes it is still hard, but only when I step out of the armor and try to fight with my own bare knuckles, they just get beat up and bloody and never win. But when I am fighting with the Creator on my side of the fence, He's right up there on the front line, who can stand up against him! He is our STRONG TOWER!!

"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand." Ephesians 6:13

Docterine and Duty

"Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. " -Ephesians 4:15-16

Last night I truly heard Gods voice. I learned so much about who he has called us as Christians to be. What it looks like to be rooted in faith, is to foster intamicy with Christ, study His word, and to live a Godly life. I know that is not a ew concept to us as blievers , I know as believers we here this all too often. But yes we may here all these Docterines being preeched but what do we with them in our everyday lives that proves them to be truth? "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on a Rock. And the rain fell, and the floods cane, and the winds blew ans beat on that house, but it dod not fall, beacuse it had been founded on the rock."(Matthew 7:24-25) We hear the word, but it is no good if we do nothing with it, this is what fostering is all about, the very defenition is, "To promote the growth and development of; cultivate", knowing and applying it to who we are and what we are all about. As college students we know what studying is all about, we have to, or at least we should be, studying all the time. And all this earns us is an A, for some class that we will forget all about in such a short time, like a semester!

When we are students of Gods word, we are studying for the best grade of this life and the life thereafter, eternity. I ask you this question, what's it going to take to be a true "A" student of Gods word today in your life? What areas in your life our just saturated with fat, and not Gods word. What would you have to give up to make time in your schedule to be that "A" student? When we are fosters, and studyers of Gods word, God will encourage our hearts, strengethen our minds, nurish us, and feed us. "My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" Colossians 2:2-3

Do you have a mind that is fixed on eternity, I know ask myself this question everyday. I know that there are a number of things that I could chuck out the window and do without, I know that I could get up an hour earier or stay up an hour later in this life, for a time to study Gods word. I am not saying any of this to be "legalistic". I say this for I know and believe in my heart that the evidence of assurance, of a true believer , is peace and a mind fixed on Eternity.

I challange you with this, Do you have assurance? Are you rooted and Solid?

My pastor told this story once, of how this man named John Wlesley on his death bed said these truly passionate words of his faith,

" I'll praise my Maker while I've breath,And when my voice is lost in death,Praise shall employ my nobler powers; My days of praise shall ne'er be past,While life, and thought, and being last,Or immortality endures"

Reflection of Gods Grace

Oh how how the fall is my favorite time of year, where the leaves change and the air cools. I love wakeing up in the early morning and just laying in bed to keep warm, and then as I step out the door to begin my day I am all layered up in my fall wardrobe:) I truly look at the cloudy days, and rainy days as blessings in disguise, because if it wasn't for the yucky days we wouldn't appreciate the beautiful Autumn ones.

Wouldn't it be nice to be a kid again? To live life as though there wasn't anything you realy had control over so there was no use worrying. I mean I know that we control our descions and our steps, but realy we don't, we know so little compared to our maker. Who grants us Grace everywhere we look, we even see his Grace in creation, in the people to the left and right of us. Thats what I want to aspire to be the very reflection of Gods Grace and Glory...What does that look like?..
